Inhumans Movie Still Happening Despite Rumored Demise

Is Marvel shelving their 2019 Inhumans movie? We’re breaking it down right now on Clevver News Feed. A recent rumor suggests Marvel has quietly cancelled their Inhumans movie, but could it actually be true? Last week we told you that Marvel had announced an Ant-Man sequel, aptly titled “Ant-Man and the Wasp” and scheduled it for July 6th, 2018. With the news brought word that the studio would be pushing their Black Panther movie up to February 16th, 2018 and moving Captain Marvel out of 2018 to March 8th, 2019. With all this shuffling going on and no mention of the July 12th, 2019 Inhumans movie, some began speculating that the movie was in trouble and Bleeding Cool took it so far as to report that the film has been completely taken off the slate. According to their sources, the move is a result of the recent split between the film and television divisions at Marvel with Marvel TV having made The Inhumans a major storyline on Agents of SHIELD. Well, since that report surfaced, multiple sources have refuted the claim stating that the Inhumans movie is still moving forward and in a recent interview with io9, Vin Diesel once again hinted that he could be playing Inhumans leader “Black Bolt” in the film saying quote, “We’ve heard a lot of talk about Marvel wanting to have me play a character that doesn’t have my voice. So my voice is used for Groot and my presence is used for the other character.” For those of you unfamiliar, Black Bolt is the King of the Inhumans and has the capability to destroy entire planets with his voice, therefore he chooses to remain silent most of the time. In addition to Diesel’s possible casting, Birth Movies Death’s sources suggest that Adam McKay is the potential frontrunner to direct the Inhumans movie, stating that he’s interested in helming a Marvel project after working on the Ant-Man script last year. As for why Marvel didn’t mention the Inhumans movie in its Ant-Man and the Wasp announcement, it’s likely because its release date has not changed. Black Panther was moved in order to make room for the Ant-Man sequel while Captain Marvel was likely moved to 2019 in order for the studio to release three films each year, which they have stated was they’re ultimate goal. So for now, it looks like we can still look forward to the Inhumans movie arriving in theaters on July 12th, 2019.
