Sometimes, we need the comforts of a desktop computer, on the go. I mean, as society moves forward, we can’t always be at home on a desktop to finish work. It’s 2017. We should be able to be productive everywhere. And we can be. Today I’ll be discussing how to make a portable battlestation.
There’s not really a set budget, you can definitely mix and match the type of products I mention in the video, but the ones I do mention will be listed down in the description below.
First you need a decent backpack. Unless you plan to carry everything with your bare two hands. You probably have to have really big hands for that though. Just saying.
Second, a laptop. I got a 2016 macbook pro with me but any windows or mac computer is fine. As long as it’s not a chromebook. We don’t love those on this channel, okay? I’m kidding. (Don’t hate me Google).
Third, you need a wireless mouse, for maximum flexibility because wired ones will tangle. All the time. Trust me. I personally find the apple mouse to be amazingly unbearable in terms of ergonomics so unless you got the flattest hand in the world, don’t get this mouse. Get something else.
Fourth, you need audio. Headphones, earphones, a Bluetooth speaker? Whatever you prefer. If it’s Bluetooth, even better, no wires, no mess.
Last but not least you need a tablet that we will turn into a second display. Preferably an iPad. No, it’s not because I have one or because “apple”, but rather there isn’t a 100% reliable android app that can provides the same feature. But on the iPad side, there is. Duet Display. A $20 app that can turn your iPad into a second display by connecting it via USB to a windows pc or a mac making it extremely versatile. Now if you don’t want to squint too much, get a big ipad. Cause the mini is a bit harder to see. I mean. It is called the mini. I mean. The app works on your iPhone as well, If you enjoy torture.
What’s interesting with the duet display app is that it allows you to choose different resolutions and power settings and is pretty responsive. It even can turn on the touch bar feature on macs that lack it. That’s pretty cool in my opinion.
Altogether let’s see what we got. While it’s not perfect, you can always mix and match different products to make your own unique on the go battlestation. You can always switch out the mouse, speakers, laptop, and backpack. This is just a template to help you guys out.
